Werkstatt der Schmetterlinge

I am beginning to think that "busy" is becoming the "norm" these days... We only dropped my parents off at the airport this last Monday, and by Wednesday we were back on the road again. We celebrated my mother-in-laws 60th birthday and then attended a Familientag (family reunion) on Saturday. Sunday was our leisure day and we decided to visit "Werkstatt der Schmetterlinge" (Workshop of Butterflies), a garden and lifestyle market. Held on the grounds of Schloss Eutin, which is surrounded by a beautiful lake, tents lined the grounds filled with eye candy and flowers to make make any gardener drool. To complete the theme, a tent was set up with tropical butterflies from Costa Rica that had been sent as cocoons and later hatched.

Later we took a stroll on a path that lead us around the lake and the grounds of the estate and we captured a short glimpse of a father and his sons, leaping back and forth across a gap by the lake... It definitely reminds one that you don't have to spend money to bond as a family and create lasting memories.

What do you do with your family to have fun and spend time together without spending money?

Love those jumping shots! My teacher husband is officially off for 6 weeks now and since our vacation budget turned into our moving budget, we're contemplating cheap-fun alternative ourselves. One of the things on our list is to bike to the next big town this summer. It's not too far, but we've never done it and the trail along the river is supposed to be lovely!

Such a super post, yes I love the jumping photo too!!

We go kite flying if it is the right weather, walking or cycling..well it depends who we are with. We don;t have children at home, so it might just be the two of us.

Since it is really hot here right now, we usually go to the pool. It make for very sleepy children at the end of the day, but come fall we spend every sunday taking a walk in the forest then we stop at the playground. When the weather is too bad to go outside you will find us either snuggled on the couch with a bag of popcorn and a movie or playing a game such as monopoly or Uno
