A couple weeks ago I introduced one of the strong male designers in the world of fabric designing. So I thought it long overdue to introduce you to another one of my favorite male designers who, in my opinion, gives the ladies a pretty good run for their money. Joel Dewberry, a trained Graphic Designer and graduate of Brigham Young University, has taken the quilting world by storm with five fantastic fabric collections. His latest collection "Deer Valley" was inspired by "mountain meadows and the occasional passing deer", and is fabulous in every sense of the word.
This family man of four children, only launched his textiles brand in 2007, but had already attained recognition and is considered a strong presence in the field. His new collection combines so nicely and is such an unexpected contrast to other collections now available.
Always high quality fabric and great color palettes to work with, "Deer Valley" is perfect for a variety of favorite projects. Joel Dewberry's "Deer Valley" collection can be found here.
I have been chewing on this very colorway of his Deer Valley line for a while now. Part of me loves it and thinks it would be perfect for some long-overdue throw pillows/maybe wall art in our living room, but another part of me says it would be just too matchy-matchy considering our current color scheme. My husband loves matchy-matchy, but I'm not so into it. I really like Joel Dewberry's work, but I just can't decide!
ReplyDeleteJuliette, as soon as I read that you had been considering this fabric I thought... ooohhhh, it really is perfect match for your living room. Maybe you could use fabrics like "Architectural" which would match the blues that you have, but introduce a brown/taupe making it not so matchy-matchy. Then combine it with "Weave Stripe" to pull in all the colors, including the additional brown. I know what you mean about matchy-matchy, but I think you could achieve that not so matched look with other accessories. Oh my, decisions, decisions.
ReplyDeletesee?? i know! =) Those 2 have totally caught my eye, esp the weave stripe. The red lattice also looks fun...I hate our red rugs so much, but since I know they're here to stay for a long while, I could maybe make them look a little more intentional with a tiny bit more red elsewhere. yes, decisions decisions!
ReplyDeleteThe fabric designs look wonderful and the name Deer Valley makes you want to just go buy it. But as it is, we shop at Ikea and so things are kind of Swedish at the moment.
ReplyDeleteOcean Girl, Ikea has some really fun fabrics and at really good prices too. My husband always has to stop and wait for me when we pass by this section... but since I am addicted to fabric, I always like to stop anywhere you find pretty fabric.
ReplyDeleteIch bin zum ersten mal hier und begeistert! Du machst tolle Sachen. Liebe Grüße.
ReplyDeleteThese fabrics are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteGreat blog! I LOVE all the fabrics. I wish there were more craft stores and affordable fabric stores here. And yes, the buildings NEVER get old! So nice to see a new German blog!
